Santiago Miranda

After completing his studies at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artisticos in his home town, Sevilla, Santiago came to Milan in 1971 where, with Perry, he founded King & Miranda Associati in 1976. Before this, he designed and wrote ‘Air Mail Transatlantic Pictures’, stories and images for an interactive park for lonely people, as well as working as a consultant to Olivetti. He is active in teaching and research. He was member of the Scientific Commitee of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid and of the Scientific Committee of the University Pablo de Olavide in Seville. He has participated in numerous conferences and competition juries all over the world. He was awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseño Español in 1989 and the Premio Andalucia de Diseño in 1995.

Perry King

Perry King (1938-2020) studied Industrial Design in the UK and moved to Italy in 1964 as a consultant to Olivetti where he worked on a wide range of products which included the Valentine Typewriter and the Sistema 45. Later, while he was Design Coordinator for Corporate Image, his work included dot matrix fonts as well as books and posters, all designed with Santiago with whom he founded King Miranda Associati in 1976. He has participated in numerous conferences and competition juries throughout the world and he was active in teaching and research. He was Lecturing Professor at Milan Polytechnic and was made Visiting Professor at the University of the Arts, London in 2004. He was Visiting Professor to the School of Architecture and Design at the Royal College of Art in London in 1996/7. He was awarded the distinction of Royal Designer for Industry in 2000. He was a Fellow of the University of Central England, an Honorary Fellow of Glasgow School of Art and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Caroline King

After graduating in architecture at the Bartlett, Caroline worked for several years in London gaining a broad experience on large and small scale projects and international competitions. She currently lives and works in Milan where she is collaborating with King and Miranda Design on architectural and interior design projects. She was visiting lecturer at Westminster University and is member of both the ARB and the Ordine degli Architetti of Milan.
